This workshop is a half-day introduction to best practices in SPSS, a GUI-based statistical package that is used in both academia and industry.  It is one of the most widely used statistical software packages, especially in the social sciences, and provides a user-friendly interface for quantitative statistical analyses and interpretation.

This workshop will introduce participants to data manipulation, calculations, statistical analyses, and how to produce useful graphs and numeric summaries in SPSS. Participants will also learn to write basic syntax commands that can be used to automate analyses and facilitate reproducibility.

No prior programming knowledge is necessary. The workshop is hands on and participants will follow along with all steps, procedures, and analyses. Participants can login to university computers where the most recent version of SPSS will be installed. You are also welcome to bring your own computer if you have SPSS installed, but it is not necessary.

The workshop will be held in the Weldon Instruction Room (ground floor, Map & Data Centre, Weldon Library), and led by a PhD student from the Department of Psychology with expertise in statistics and SPSS.
