R Workshop #4

Wednesday, May 22

1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Basic Statistics Refresher in R

Do you need a refresher on statistics to get started on an analysis? This new 2-hour workshop will use R to review basic statistical methods such as the ANOVA decomposition and linear regression. Furthermore, it will address how to interpret the results of these techniques in practice. This workshop differs from the Intermediate R workshop with its focus on understanding the theory and interpretation of statistical procedures rather than coding, plotting, and using packages in R.

A basic understanding of R is required for this workshop (basic use of data frames, vectors, lists, etc). Attending the Introduction to R Workshop is sufficient to prepare you for this one. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own computers, but please ensure that both R and RStudio are installed. R is the programming language itself and must be installed first (https://cran.r-project.org/). RStudio Desktop provides a more friendly programming environment and is used in conjunction with R (https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/).

The workshop will be held in the Weldon Instruction Room (Ground floor, Map & Data Centre, Weldon Library).

If you have any questions regarding registration procedure and payment processing, please contact Patty Scheerer at patty@housing.uwo.ca.
