R Workshop #2

Introduction to R Workshop – with some prior programming experience

Wednesday, February 20, 9 am to 12 pm

Introduction to R is a 3-hour workshop introducing basic programming concepts in R and learning to execute data manipulations, calculations, statistical analyses, and produce useful graphs and numeric summaries.  Participants will also learn to write simple functions that can be used to automate analyses and examine the use of R packages to expand R’s basic capabilities.

Although no prior programming knowledge is necessary, those with no programming experience are encouraged to take the workshop on February 19th from 9 am to 12 pm or February 26th from 6 to 9 pm which will proceed at a slower pace. The workshop is hands-on and participants will follow along with all of the coding.  Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own computers, but please ensure that both R and RStudio are installed. R is the programming language itself and must be installed first (https://cran.r-project.org/). RStudio Desktop provides a more friendly programming environment and

is used in conjunction with R (https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/).

The workshop will be held in the Weldon Instruction Room (ground floor, Map & Data Centre, Weldon Library).
